Profiles of Senior Staff Members
JAMES McGILLIVRAY
(MANAGING DIRECTOR)

Jim is a Chartered Marine/Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years experience as a sea going Marine Engineer, Class Surveyor, Ship Owner/Manager and Consultant. His experience covers ship design and conversion projects both in the commercial and defence sectors, new build and conversion FPSO/FSO design and construction and large marine and industrial power generation projects. He has held senior management posts with Wartsila, Stirling Shipping, Seacor Smit and BAE Systems.

Jim is qualified with a BSc (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering, an MSc in Pressure Vessel Design and is a Fellow of the I. Mech E, I. MarEST and IES

IAN ROBINSON
(TECHNICAL DIRECTOR)
Ian Robinson

Ian is a qualified Naval Architect with design and operational experience of commercial and naval vessels. During the last 21 years Ian has provided technical consultancy to a number of International Ship Owning and operating companies. 

After an initial period with Yarrow Shipbuilders in both design and project management positions, Ian has been a consultant Naval Architect in the commercial ship industry, and following 10 years experience as an independent consultant to a number of Ship Managers. Ian joined SeaTec in June 2000, being promoted to Chief Naval Architect in 2004 and then Technical Director in 2007.

Ian is qualified Chartered Engineer with a Masters degree in Naval Architecture and a member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA)




JAMES MUIR
(COMPANY SECRETARY)
James Muir

James is the Company Secretary and Financial Controller for SeaTec and is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants with over 15 years finance experience in various sectors such as Property, Health, Financial Services and Utilities.

He is also an Associate member at both of the Institute of Leadership and Management and the Association of Project Management.

Dr. GOPINATH CHANDROTH
(DIRECTOR - CONDITION MONITORING)

Gopi is an ex chief engineer from the Merchant Navy (DMET 1974-78 batch). He has a Masters degree in Software Engineering and a PhD in condition monitoring. After a year’s stint as a software systems manager, he spent 3 years at the University of Sheffield conducting research in to machinery condition monitoring.

From 2000 to 2005, Gopi worked for Lloyd's Register (London) where he was in charge of machinery condition monitoring and manager of the Integrated Condition Monitoring Service. In March 2005, he joined SeaTec where he set up the PACT (Protecting Assets with Condition Monitoring Technology) suite of services.

Gopi has published over 20 conference and journal papers and has given several invited lectures on machinery condition monitoring.

DAVID HARLEY
(MANAGING DIRECTOR - SEATEC SAFETY SERVICES)

David has 31 years experience in Shipping Industry including Marine Consultancy, Shipbuilding and Offshore Fabrication. His experience covers design, analysis and evaluation of a wide range of vessels including finite element analysis techniques. David also spent seven years are a Safety Manager with a major defence company undertaking formal safety assessments and risk analysis on a range of prime contracts with the UK Ministry of Defence including the preparation and submission of formal safety case reports.

David is qualified Chartered Engineer with a first class BSc(hons) in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA).


CATHERINE LOGIE
(MANAGER - MARLINS)

Catherine Logie is Manager of Marlins and oversees the provision of English language testing and training solutions to a large portfolio of companies in the merchant marine, offshore and leisure sectors of the shipping industry worldwide. She is also responsible for launching the new range of computer-based training products, developed jointly by Marlins and Seatec.

Catherine joined the company in 1996 and before being appointed as Manager in 2003, she was responsible for co-writing several Maritime English training resources, including publications for IMO on Maritime English. As a teacher trainer and IMO consultant, Catherine has worked extensively overseas, designing and delivering 'train the trainer' courses in China and the Far East; Russia and Europe; and also South & Central America.

She has also set up and managed in-house ELT programmes for many leading employers worldwide including: Colombia Ship Management; Uniteam; Holland America Line; Acomarit; V.Ships; BGI and currently, Magsaysay, Philippines
