Composite Tank Chemical Carrier

SeaTec has helped develop a new 'single hull' chemical carrier, constructed specially for carrying oil products and chemicals with independent Polymer cargo and slop tanks. The independent tank boundaries are be considered to provide the "Double Hull" for the side shell design, with additional double bottoms in the hull primarily to provide ballast capacity to ensure the vessel can be correctly trimmed and that the propulsors and thrusters are fully immersed in the light ship condition. The intended cargo capacity has been specified at 6200m3 within a LOA of 105m. Outwardly the vessel appears conventional with the machinery spaces, accommodation and bridge aft and a raised forecastle forward, however the propulsion machinery will be a diesel electric configuration with twin fixed pitch 'azipull' rudder propeller units. For manoeuvring a single CPP tunnel thrusters is provided forward. The composite tanks and ship design have received "Approval in Principle" from the American Bureau of Shipping.
